Today a checkup was scheduled at the clinic (Foxie was NOT happy about it, I can tell you, you should have seen the dirty look she gave our lovely vet Petra when she came into the waiting room to say it was our turn!!! Laughing ). She had a blood test to see how her platelets and red blood cells were doing, and they were absolutely perfect, back to their normal count - my vet and I were so much relievd. Another small effort should be made about the urea rate though, as it is a tiny bit over the maximum rate: .66 gr/l instead of .60 . So she has to take some phytotherapy tablets to help drain her kidneys (artichoke, hawthorn and orthosiphon) and we will go back in 10 days for a (hopefully!) last blood test to check that everything is back to normal. Phewww what an aggressive illness! My vet is not worried about Foxie and is happy with the results even if the urea is still slightly too high.

With a bit of luck you can have a better and at least less worrying weekend than the last one. So pleased for Foxie - and you.

xx

This morning we went back to the vet's for a new blood test to see whether Foxie's urea rate had gone back to normal. I am sure you can all imagine how I felt while waiting for the result (we have to wait about 10-15 minutes for the machine to analyse the blood sample fed to it by the vet). And at last... the good news: everything's back to normal, urea .42 g/l (normal figures are between .19 and .60 g/l). PHEWWWWW!!!!! Now I think we can finally put this behind us and... beware of the ticks, as she could be infected again, of course! Shocked Fortunately, the peak of the "tick season" here has now been reached, and if we have a normal dry summer, we should be ok at least until next October, and then another quiet period for the whole winter until next April... Thanks gain for your support and kind words!
