Hello gorgeous boy. Aren't you the lucky one seeing an Otter. Hope you didn't frighten it ( of course you didn't ) |

This morning I was greeted by a wet nose reminder that it was Hobbes breakfast time and a cheeky look....

How big is Hobbes now? When he was a puppy, he looked as if he was going to be very tall and large! |

So sorry.... I only just saw your question.
I can tell you precisely what Hobbes weighs - 25.6kg and you can still feel his ribs (just)... He loves his food..... As to height and length I'll have to catch him and measure him while he'e eating (for height) and asleep on the patio or kitchen floor (for length) but yes he is what I would call "a full sized male Beardie"
Will post as soon as I get the measurements |

Thanks Robert! Hobbes is just fine with his 25.6 kg, especially as he looks like a tall and well-built male. I showed his photo to my French friends on our Beardie forum (same sort of friendly group as this one), and am happy to announce the creation of:
the Official Hobbes Fan Club (French section) - I am the Chairperson of course.

Hobbes says "Merci beaucoup"!!! and sends a big wet Beardie kiss to all his fans
I have chased the boy around with a tape measure and these are the best guesstimates I am able to give regarding his height and length
Height 23 inches
Length (Base of tale to base of neck) 33 inches
I therefore think he equates to a top end of the official size range for a Beardie - according to the UK Kennel Club. |

23 inches??? Well then, Hobbes is more like a Giant Beardie! I've just checked the official British standard and it says 22 inches max for a male Beardie.
Please say thank you to him from me and his fans for the big wet Beardie kiss - we all have a good experience of that sort of thing, of course! |

Perhaps Hobbes would like to start his own club - the GFBC - ? |

Well I did say it was a best estimate... it could easily be 22 but certainly not less .... I used a DVD box and some chalk and marked the kitchen table leg .... so not the most scientific of methods

I thought this picture might give you a better appreciation of Hobbes' size

Ohhh.......
I met a lady walking a dog the other day..... I thought it was a Tibetan that had been trimmed but she insisted it was a Bearded Collie girl, who was vertically challenged.....
I nearly said that she ought to have the dog DNA tested or do some research on breed characteristics .... but didn't.... it was proportionally all wrong even at her size to have been a Beardie..... IMHO
I hope she got it at a good price.... |
