Living with a beardie
Water water everywhere
Not coming from the sink
The walls and ceilings splashed all over
Jethro’s had a drink
The peace and quiet shattered
As twixt lounge windows and door
A hurricane is hurtling, cos
The postman’s at the door
The once cream (yes, I know, but I didn’t have him then) carpet in the lounge
Is now pock marked with crud
He is a messy eater
And the ground-in stuff’s his grub
I sit and eat my dinner
On the sofa, from a tray
When suddenly a purple pong
Of odour wafts my way
The little darling’s lying
On the floor close to my feet
If only he’d keep to himself
Those farts so indiscreet
The shrubs that grace the garden boundary
Now have naked roots
The cotoneaster from now on
May ne’er again bear fruits
The bone bank lies beneath the hedge
And every nearby border
All carefully deposited
In no specific order
It isn’t for the houseproud
Garden lovers beware
But living with a beardie
Is something we all share!

Great poem, although Foxie said, after reading it, that you have a lot of imagination and are very good at writing fiction... Ahemmm... Why don't I agree with her?... |
