Echo enjoying her walk in the Peak District, praying the dam over those hills at Whaley bridge doesn’t breach and everyone stays safe .

It’s near our patch but We are a bit away on the other side of Buxton so safe . Scary for those living in whaley bridge and disley . Just hope they have managed to move their livestock and horses out of harms way, the police stopped anyone going back into the village to collect Any belongings today. As they are very concerned about the integrity of the dam . . |

Yes, cant imagine how scary and worrying it all is for everyone there.
Heard someone on the radio this morning telling about how he had been away at work, the day when the village was evacuated...the fire department broke into his house to make sure no one was trapped ( the floodwater was 5 ft up the inside walls ) and found his dog upstairs, on the bed...fire department took the dog and they were reunited today. Cant imagine how worried he had been...and he said his dog must have been so scared. Happy ending, though |

I must have a look on the Internet as I have no idea what this is about but gosh how frightening it all sounds! Hope everybody is safe! |

The emergency services are doing an amazing job at the dam. The water level has safely been reduced by 6meters and 540 tons on sand and aggregate have be place in the hole, they are now concreting around it to try and strengthen the dam. Yes there are masses of road closures and huge diversions as the main Roads and railway are closed but people are not complaining, just very grateful that at this point the dam is still holding. There is still a massive risk it could breach so people are still holding their breath, the big worry is with more storms and heavy rain forecast over the next few days no one really knows if structure will hold up as the reservoir will back fill nearly as fast as they can empty it. |

This is all really really worrying... I've read several articles on this issue on the Internet as the French media haven't said anything about it - or else I've missed it. I'm keeping my fingers croessed for all concerned, especially if some heavy rain is due in the area again. |
