Well he rocked up here in March 2006 and our lives changed forever. Harry arrived with several Asbos to his name - not bad for a young whippersnapper of just over 3 years old. He had already been shown at dog shows and qualified for Crufts as a pup by his mum (and breeder) Caroline and according to the critiques I have read he did really well........

He settled with us beautifully, not withstanding the two frozen shoulders he gave me, due to his pulling and lunging - but hey ho - I loved him anyway. He soon learnt that going for dogs - any dog - was not acceptable and he was kept away from anything four-pawed for a good 18 months. The day I walked him through a dog show at Maidstone and he trotted calmly towards Caroline was one of the proudest moments of my life.

He was a larger than life character but also grew into a very calm beardie who padded behind me, gently herding me all the time and stood up when I did which made him into a complete gentleman.

Sadie gave him hell when she arrived in our lives in January 2008 and he took it all very calmly - she was in charge and he let her have her way in most things - as most males do - anything for a quiet life.

Harry loved camping in Cornwall with all the other beards and we have some amazing memories of great holidays with all our friends who camped with us.

He blogged regularly as you know and also did some bad damage to a William Wordsworth poem - Daffodils - which I am reprinting here as Joy loved it so much.
.....................................................................................................

I ran, not wandered, certainly never lonely as a cloud
Although here we have no vales and hills
We never even saw a crowd
Just a host of golden daffodils
Twas in a local field near the trees
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze

Row after row, they did look fine
As I ran towards them in a straight line
Come back screeched Mum, youíll ruin them with your paws
They are meant for Motherís Day or Ďer indoors
Ten thousand daffs she saw at a glance
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance

I ran and ran but had little thought
Of what havoc I could have wrought
But I came back, my recall good
Or perhaps I was in pensive mood
A walk with Mum, my heart with pleasure fills
And hers as long as I stay out of the daffodils.

HazboPoems March 2012

......................................................................................................

I will leave my tribute as just this - there is just so much I could write about him but it would run to pages.

I have given some thought to perhaps Harry blogging - if people would approve - from Rainbow Bridge. I am happy to do this perhaps when things have settled a bit more - I could call it Tails From The Bridge. I will see how I feel in the New Year and also first making sure it would not upset anyone.

Aww, Sue - so pleased you feel strong enough to write your moving tribute to Harry.

I didn't have the pleasure of meeting him until 2009 and by that time you had worked your magic and he was a perfect gentleman, and Jago become his loyal acolyte, happily following Hazbo around every time they got together. I always had such a soft spot for him.

It is hard to believe that such a character has gone - I still well up every time I think about him no longer sitting happily on Benhope, gazing at the stars. But he will always be snuggled safely in your heart and it's lovely to think he may be wreaking havoc with The Duchess up there at the Bridge, partners in crime once again.

Lovely tribute Sue; Harry was such a star on the FBC and we all loved his blogs; one from the Bridge, now that could be interesting! xxx

He always was a star and still is. I wonder if Sadie will let him share her couch for snoozes - I'm sure she will be pleased to have him with her again. Much love to you both. xxx

P.S. He sure could write a mean poem.

That is a lovely blog Sue - he could be a reporter from beyond the bridge.
I would love to know what my Jess, Molly and Bella are up to and whether they get on or not.

What a lovely thought tails from the bridge would be. I do miss our Hazbo and Sadie chops and sometime think I wonder what they would say about this. A blog is the best way I can think of for all of us to remember the fun that was had and will be had with Hazbo watching over us.

Big hugs Sue x

Oh Sue, I remember Harry as being one of the first beardies we met in Cornwall, along with Sadie and it being I think Harry's 8th Birthday. A beautiful boy. I can't really comprehend what is has been like for you to lose them both so close together I can only say that my heart is with you and I will look forward to hearing of Harry's adventures in the New Year. In the meantime Baillie sends snoggles and I send a cyber hug x

Here he is all windswept down in Cornwall

Just love Harry's version of Daffodils, and a lovely tribute Sue. Look forward to hearing more from Harry, when he feels able.

Oh Sue, I did too, fancy you remembering. Bless.

It still makes me laugh.

Well, you always did that Hazbo, and by the sound of it you will again. Can't imagine life without a blog, thank goodness I won't have to.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

See, I am talking to him already, just comes naturally.
