A year ago today 25th February, we had to let Merlin go to the Rainbow Bridge. It seems unbelievable that we have been without him for a year, but when you take these amazing dogs on you know you will have to face this one day.

He was my best friend and soul mate and I thought I'd "break" without him by my side, but between them Wizard and now Sirius too have helped me smile again Very Happy

After he died my lovely friend SandY discovered there was a Narcissi called Merlin, what an amazing idea to plant a few bulbs in memory of my once in a lifetime boy. I managed to track down a supplier (only found the one Shocked) and planted a large patch of them hoping they'd have shown themselves (leaves at least Rolling Eyes) by now. I'd hoped to have a lovely photo of a gorgeous display, but of course it's probably a bit early, though I have noticed two small shots coming through, so fingers crossed the rest will follow Very Happy

Run free Merlin; we had so much fun together and you will always be in my thoughts xxxxxx

It really doesn't seem a year ago at all. How lovely that the flowers will always remind you of your lovely boy. Hope you get through today without too much sadness, but with joy at having him with you for the time you did have together.

Xxxxx

Can't believe it's a year already. Lovely that you found the Narcissi with his name, I planted Narcissi Golden Echo for my Little Echo.

He looks a lovely boy. It's heartbreaking when they go, but you have to try and remember all the fun times (in between sobs).

Our girl Socks went on Feb 1 last year. We planted snowdrops and crocuses on her grave in the garden so that we would see new life at the same time of year that she went. Despite the sadness of the topic I did have a little chuckle at the thought of planting something more appropriate to her name. Embarassed

Big hugs Julie, beardies leave us so sad when they go they are not just dogs they are almost human, they influence us so much we will only get another beardie to make us as happy. We will never forget Merlin who was a magical boy xxx

Hard to believe it's a whole year, Julie - anniversaries are always tough, but in reality it's just another day without your beloved boy, so thinking of you and sending hugs today and every day.

How lovely to plant some Merlin bulbs - you may find that next year they are out on time for Merlin's anniversary. I'm not an expert gardener by any means, but I have been told that bulbs tend to flower a little later than normal in the first year or two after planting. So fingers crossed......

You are right Julie, the pain that comes with losing them is the price we pay for sharing our lives with these lovely souls.

Thinking of You and sending big Hugs. Merlin was a very special Boy, loved by all that knew him.
Now safe at the end of the Bridge, where no doubt he will be running the Rainbow Cafe and Cake Shoppe.
He did like Cake, you know Sad

So true Gabi, and I don't think he'd mind which way the jam and cream was on top of scones, just as long as they were edible Laughing Laughing

Thank you all for your lovely posts, just don't know where that year has gone!

At long last the Narcissi "Merlin" have bloomed Very Happy I'm absolutely delighted with them, and can see them from my kitchen window; which is why I planted them in the front garden!

Sirius and Wizard "keeping guard" Wink

A close up; they are so pretty Very Happy

Just thought I'd put Merlin's casket in the photo; it usually lives next to my bed with Simon's casket.
