My heart is breaking
The vet has just rang to tell me the awful news that Baxter has liver cancer I'm in work and can't stop crying Not sure what the next step is, as the vet is going to speak to the oncologist as to the best way to proceed. Please send your love and white light for my boy, he is my rock and i am absolutely devastated. x |

So very sorry to read this Sandie..but as you know Boo has cancer , not the same as Bax I know, but he continues to be well and its 3 years this month since we first saw the lump in his nose. The oncologist our vet referred us too is now at Langford, Sarah Gould..she is amazing and was asked by Langford to head up their oncology dept there. I don't know the protocol at your vets for referring to a specialist but she is wonderful. Boo is on a daily chemo tablet, Chlorambucil and its a Metronomic chemo treatment that doesn't get rid of the tumour just keeps it from growing ..whilst Boo's has grown its not very significantly and along with an organic diet and flaxseed oil mixed with quark every day we continue to do our best for him. This might help Bax too ..
I hope you have friends round you and I know your family as you will need them ..when Boo was diagnosed it was really tough ....
Sending hugs to your very special boy , he's a very special boy and I miss him x |

Thank you for all your messages of support, it means a lot.x
Bax is fine in himself Still as happy, bouncy and noisy as ever
He had an upset tummy about 6 months ago and was prescribed antibiotics....his liver enzyme was up slightly but nothing to worry about and he was drinking more but as he could have been a bit dehydrated, the vet wasn't overly concerned and said to have another blood test in 6 months and obviously take him back if things changed. His thirst seemed to go more or less back to normal until a few weeks ago when it increased again and i took him back for further tests His MRI all looked good except for the liver so the vet did a fine needle aspiration which gave the result that he has a tumour I was too upset to take in everything that she was saying, but she is consulting with the specialist to see about operating Apart from an increase in thirst and he has lost a bit of weight, there are no obvious symptoms. He is not lethargic, not vomiting, not losing his appetite, but he did have blood in his urine
Nikki, he hasn't changed.....he greets me as always when i get home with a cushion in his mouth then last night he pinched my scarf from the back of the chair, followed by my vitamins from the kitchen worktop
Jill, so pleased that Bailey is still doing well |

Oh what a gorgeous dog, Sandie, these photos are beautiful!
Keep hope and enjoy Baxter's company as much as you can, lots of cancers can be cured or stabilized these days, let's see what your vet and the specialist say. Lots od friendly thoughts and hugs for you and Baxter. |
