One week ago, a very important passenger travelled on the TGV (the French equivalent of the British Intercity train) between the French Riviera and the nearest station to my place. She (yes, it's a "she") was under the supervision of one of the French Railway inspectors on board, who happens to be a member of the "SOS Siamois" association who rescues and rehomes Siamese cats (pure breed or cross - blue eyes are the main criteria Very Happy ) in need of new homes and who had agreed to transport her (for free) on the train he worked on that day. I am so very grateful to him! Don't grumble next time you are asked to show your ticket by a man in uniform on the train, some of them are really nice people!

Now, with all those clues, I'm sure you have guessed what this is all about Laughing ! Yes, a new addition has arrived here and has joined the furry gang. She is a 15-month old Siamese cross, her former family couldn't keep her because their little boy had developed a severe allergy to cat's hair and at the end of May they put an ad for her at the baker's where Sandrine, who is in charge of rehoming cats in the association, buys her bread. Now how is that for coincidence!!! Shocked The family accepted to give their cat away to the association, and Sandrine called me as she had a feeling this cat could be for me! I fell in love as soon as I saw her photos, and I reserved her! Sandrine kept her as foster family for over 2 months. You may remember that I had adopted a young Siamese cross from a shelter, in May, who died from feline gastroenteritis only a few days after arriving here. Well, although I thoroughly cleaned, washed and disinfected everything in the room where my poor cat had stayed (and also threw away quite a few things too, just in case), it is usually recommended not to put a new cat in a building where a cat bearing that virus has been kept, for at least 2 months. Finally, when all was safe (I disinfected the room a 2nd time just in case!), we decided on a date and... this is it, here she is! Her family had called her Stella, which i didn't like too much, and she is now Na´s, an old traditional Provenšal name - pronounced Na-eece, with the stress on the "i", and not like the English word "nice" Wink .

So far she has been introduced to Miss You - all goes well, they are getting used to each other. I have placed Foxie in her favourite kennels for a few days so that Na´s can explore the house freely and be introduced to the calmer furries of the household... When Foxie comes back next Wednesday, Na´s will have left her odour everywhere in the house and she will also be more confident, and it will be easier to introduce her to the black and white tornado... Rolling Eyes Laughing

Na´s is adorable, loves to be stroked and generally made a fuss of, purrs loudly, mumbles and cries while playing (Siamese genes!) and loves games, on her own or with me - a very active, healthy cat!

This is the picture which made me make my decision, not surprisingly!!! (taken at her former family's) - needless to say the collar and bell have been quickly removed by Sandrine!

Na´s loves the fishing rod game!

Now who are you? I've never seen anyone like you before! (sorry, pic a bit fuzzy)

Ok, you don't look too dangerous, maybe we can relax and have a nap...

Oh those blue blue eyes.......

Sorry, I've been rather busy these last few days! Embarassed

Well Na´s is doing very well, she is a very determined and fearless cat, which is just what is needed to face Foxie! Foxie is progressing, during the first few encounters she seemed to say: "What? A strange CAT in my house? Shocked I'll get rid of her in no time at all!" But seeing that her gesticulations had absolutely no effect, now she barks at Na´s when I have them in the same room: "Ok I tolerate you in MY hpuse but... watch it!" like she did for the first few days after Miss You arrived here. Na´s and Miss You have quite the same reaction to that, do nothing and wait until Foxie gets tired of barking! Laughing I think that Foxie would get a good slap on her big nose from Na´s if she insisted too much, which would do her good - she got slapped a good number of times by Noisette when she was still here, and each time, in spite of the difference in size, it was Foxie who backed away!

With Miss You, everything is perfect, they share the same sofa (mine! Rolling Eyes Laughing ) and live together as if they had known each other forever! Miss You is such an easygoing dog, she is amazing...

Biba the black panther's attitude is "I don't want anything to do with that new cat, I know she is here in the house but don't want to see her". Biba has always been a loner, she only loves me and nobody else, she lives apart from the rest of the furry gang, and I think I'm not going to change this. I tried to introduce Na´s and Biba to each other and Biba was actually screaming with anger (and fear, maybe), so I haven't tried again. She is my little wild panther and that's it.

A few recent pics for you:

What a stressful life!

She loves the sofa! Note the nice basket I had prepared for her next to it - she has never used it!!! Rolling Eyes

Very Happy Love that tail! Makes her look like a Long Tailed Bandicoot....but dont tell her I said that, please Very Happy Also, her stomach is adorable

Super photos and funny to hear how they are all sorting out who is who and where who is going to be when, if you see what I mean. I have always found the dynamics between my animals fascinating to watch. My Danny Kaye was the boss in my house, whether with my other animals or with visiting animals.

Gilly and Mark's Ken still looks for him when they visit...

Lovely pic of MissYou and Nais, Nina. They are both adorable. I know just what you mean about the basket you have ready for Nais, my 2 felines have NEVER used their beautiful bed apart from the one night I put the pair of them in it together.

That's so typical of cats, isn't it Mary! Laughing

Judy, I have a definite feeling that Na´s the Bandicoot Wink will become the "leader of the gang" before too long! Very Happy
