Just skip this if you are fed up with pics of Ardeche landscapes featuring dogs of all types (and more particularly a certain furry type!) in the foreground or background!

Last Sunday was warm and sunny, and a walk was organized by my dog club slightly further South than my mountainous area, starting from a small village called Vernon near which lies quite a strange-looking natural phenomenon which has been called (for obvious reasons, as you will see!) "The Teats". The sceneries we met on that 2.5 hour walk were very varied - above the Beaume river gorges, through pine forests, along vineyards... We stopped at a waterfall, now reduced to a thin trickle of water, as it hasn't rained for a long time but the pool below it was lovely and cool and the dogs loved it!

Only Foxie came with me, as Miss You had a limp (she is still limping and we have an appointment with our vet tomorrow).

Foxie has just come out of the water and looks like a big rat!

Nina, your photos are lovely - always so interesting to see your photos from different areas in France. Smile It looks like you have been enjoying some lovely spring weather as we have too in the UK - no doubt the dogs enjoyed a paddle in the cool water during their walk. I hope Miss You is soon better from her limp and all goes well at the vets. Smile

"... fed up with pics of Ardeche landscapes ..." I don't think so!! Lovely photos Nina. Like Jacquie, I too am jealous. What a fab walk you had. I like the Cani-cross style leads you all have .. i imagine they are ideal for long country walks.

Keep posting the pics. Very Happy Mx

'Nina I could never get fed up with the georgeous scenery you have where you live - just jealous that's all' - I so agree with Jacquie! I wish Jethro was more of a water baby, Heidi his predecessor should have been born with webbed feet she was so at home in water. He won't even paddle! You have some stunning scenery Nina, we've nothing like that anywhere near here.

Yes, the cani-cross equipment we use for our walks is really good. It gives both the dog and the owner enough freedom to enjoy the walk while ensuring a certain amount of safety too, as the lead includes a handle which can be grabbed very quickly if needed. It is also a way to respect the other walkers we may meet on our way, as we all know that not everybody likes dogs, and some may even be afraid of them, especially when getting face to face with a group of them on a public path! And we always release the dogs when there is some water to be drunk from or jumped into, and let them "socialize" and play together. Last but not least, when we have to walk up a steep slope, it really helps to be pulled by your dog!!! Very Happy

Ahemmmm!!! Rolling Eyes The name in French of that geological site is in fact "les TÚtines" and it refers to animals'teats, like cows or goats, my dear Mark. The word "mamelon" is for human beings and is also the French word for a hillock!

What am I, chopped liver?

Hillock, with a silent "P", would still be pronounced (p)hillock .. but the word would look a bit like Pilllock which, coincidentally, is what I looked like when I suggested that the "Teats" were in fact "Nipples". My Franglais c'est plus exceptionnel n'est pas?. X
