Just watched a video posted on Beardie Club Facebook page showing travel crates and harness being crash tested. Shocking !
Wondered how you all travel with your dogs? |

I can't drive so our only travel is on foot. I don't feel happy about taking Jethro on buses as there are some people round here who regard dogs as dangerous wild animals and make a fuss. Also buses don't really cater for dogs as regards space for them. Not on Facebook by the way. |

The beardies always travel on the back seat with harnesses, the spaniels have a crate in the back which isn't strong enough I admit, but they didn't do a crash safe one for our car. We don't travel a lot now anyway mainly just to veterinary appointments and dog walks.
I don't do facebook but would be interested in what is recommended Gerrie. |

Since Foxie and then Miss You arrived here, they have always travelled in their VariKennels when I drive somewhere with them. I chose my new car 2 years ago (Citroen C3 Picasso) because the back seats can be folded down completely, thus offering a very large flat space, which is ideal to place the 2 crates there as far away as possible from the back door. I find it quite safe (nothing being 100% safe, of course) and it also still leaves enough room for shopping bags or luggage.
I've never had the opportunity to use public transport with my dogs. In France muzzles are compulsory on trains (and I suppose on buses too) - usually you can just leave the muzzle around your dog's neck (to show the ticket inspector that you have got one) but if anyone on the train wishes the dog to be muzzled, then you are obliged to comply. |

I don’t think there was a conclusion. I have tried to find the YouTube link but failed. Maybe somebody who is a bit more knowledgeable than me can get the link for you. |
