Ok, hands up all of you (?) who remember the 60s music and in particular Frank Ifield's She taught me to yodel - well, this is mine and Jethro's take on it (we lead sad lives )

He taught me to garden

My garden was a wonderland of colour and of scent
Delightful to the eyes and nostrils everywhere I went
The pond the crowning glory, the icing on the cake
A prettier fragrant paradise I thought I couldn’t make

But then one day the puppy came and made himself at home
Around my little sanctuary he’d inquisitively roam
Uproot plants he thought should grow not where I’d them displayed
It wasn’t long before the garden all but waste had laid

He taught me to garden aeri aa lly, aeri aa lly, aeri aa lly
He taught me to garden aeri aa lly, aer ii aa lly .

At first I cried, I wept, I sobbed, my hideaway was lost
Completely irretrievable all ruined beyond cost
But then I realised with creativity here and there
It could be recreated with some tender loving care

The beds and borders now are home to perennials and shrubs
A little picket fence protects the choicest plants in tubs
And from a hanging basket tree suspended up above
The pretty summer bedding that I absolutely love

He taught me to garden aeri aa lly, aeri aa lly, aeri aa lly
He taught me to garden aeri aa lly, aer ii aa lly .

Rolling Eyes ) Wink

Jacquie I think it was before I Remember You - one of my aunts was dotty about Frank Ifield, he wasn't my cup of tea at all (the Beatles were about to hit the scene around then I think). Showing my age again Embarassed but who cares Cool

Well done Mary. Laughing I do remember the song, but only the tune to the chorus bit Smile Anyway, your poem was brilliant.
