For those who may have missed it on FB . Arran was spooked whilst on a walk and went missing. The link is to the story of how lots of beardies and their hoomans were enlisted to help find him.

Quite a celebrity in the end! The story was featured in the Times and Bournemouth Echo as well as the Mail, and Madeleine, Arran's breeder was interviewed on BBC Radio Solent.

Such a great outcome, and a positive image of the breed and owners. Very Happy

Excellent! Very Happy

A friend of mine (in France) has received the article shown here from someone she knows in the UK, and she posted it in my Amis des Bearded Collies websiste. Among the comments, someone stressed the difference between how Arran was quite quickly found thanks to his owner taking some drastic steps, and how our Rescue association has juste rescued a poor male Beardie who had been lost and homeless for TWO YEARS without anyone taking real action... Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

Yes so sad about that poor French dog! And it's quite surprising that he has been able to survive during all that time too. You should have seen the state he was in when he was finally trapped by some members of the association who had placed some food in one of those big cages - and he was actually happy to have been caught, poor lovely dog! His story is that his initial owner had another male Beardie in addition to this one (called Heliot, by the way) but they kept fighting, so she chose to give Heliot to a guy she knew and keep the other dog, but Heliot escaped from his new home only a few days after he arrived there. The new owner didn't do anything to get him back, and his previous owner only informed the "gendarmerie"... and that was it! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Apparently someone saw him a few months ago roaming in the neighbourhood looking for food but not letting anybody close enough to catch him (so typical of Beardies, that), his fur in the state you can imagine after almost 2 years out "in the wild". In spite of that, the person thought he was a Beardie and contacted my Beardie rescue association, and after a few weeks' unsuccessful efforts... he was finally caught! Now he looks all nice and pampered. He had to be completely shorn of course, his fur was just a heavy tangled stinking mass Crying or Very sad and the state of his ears was beyond description - he had to be anaesthesized to thave them cleaned but he is soon going back to the clinic for surgery as one of them is severly infected. The poor dog is now staying with one of the people who caught him and is looking for his forever home. His foster family says he is the gentlest, most loving dog ever! So no doubt he will soon get the love and care he deserves.

Oh Nina, I am so saddened by the story, poor boy out there on his own. What a tough guy to have survived, all be it in such a bad state. I'm so glad he is now being looked after and treated for his medical issues. Fingers crossed he'll get a lovely forever home soon.

Poor baby, glad it had such a good ending for him after all those wilderness years. Doesnt bear thinking about. I often watch Hope For Paws on Youtube - a volunteer rescue group in Los Angeles. There are some heart-rending videos...and lovely happy endings.

I'm so pleased he has been caught and can now look forward to a brighter future. What is wrong with people that he could have been abandoned like that? Evil or Very Mad
