Deliverance

Make the best of your confinement
While you wait for your consignment
Try to rest and not get overly excited
Dont jump on and off the sofa
Like a poor demented go for
Or youll start contractions when the van is sighted

Oh the wonder and the joy
Out it pops, a girl or boy
From the drivers cab into delivery hub
Where those groceries await
Happy couple at the gate
Trying to overcome a great desire to blub

So your order has arrived
You no longer feel deprived
Youve supplies to keep you going for a while
Store it safely in the larder
For the day when times get harder
And the more unscrupulous will all stockpile Rolling Eyes

I love this one too! Laughing

Jokes about this lockdown period are numerous on Facebook, yesterday I saw this one which I rather like:

"I feel I am 15 years old again - my hair is long, the petrol is cheap, and I can't go out".

Heard the swifts a few evenings ago, shrieking up and down the street, and we saw two swallows on Sunday evening...so, summer is a-comin in no matter what else is a-goin on... Smile

Judy Our swallows are back too . The barn is becoming an Avery with swallows nesting, a robin in the tack room and a dove who has made a nest in the rafters .
Apart from the garden birds that came down we also have pheasants that come and feed every evening.

Here at the moment I have a symphony of blackbird, cuckoo, black redstart and black cap songs, and in the sky there's the ballet of swallows and kestrels who nest under my neighbours' roofs. Any day now I should start hearing and seeing the beautiful short-toed eagles who nest in the mountain right behind my little village. And hurrah, last night I heard the first nightingale of the year! Aren't birds a great help to our morale these days!

They certainly are Nina. The blackbird is the first member of the morning chorus to tune up here, joined by the robin and a couple of blue tits. Then the great tits join in. I used to hear a cuckoo around this time of year but its not in my garden, just near by. When I hear him (or her) I'll know summer's coming.

Shocked Short-toed eagles! Nightingales! Cuckoos! Nina, you have a wealth of birds around you. I looked up the Short-toed eagle as I had not heard of that one before. I wonder if they are short-toed cos the sssssssnakes and lizardssss they mainly eat nibble their little toesies... Smile

I have never heard a Nightingale in the wild...used to hear cuckoos a lot here but rarely nowadays Sad

Enjoy your birds!
