Well. Since Barbara commented about looking at Poppy's 1st birthday picture she did, I decided to have a look, well 2hrs later I was reminiscing in such wonderful memories and friends, happiness, sadness, great advice and above all great support. I have laughed so much at photos and some of the antics that we used to get up to and I have also cried with a smile at some of the posts where we have lost our beloved bearded and neardies and friends. I hope that others take a look back sometimes. A wonderful site for friends and their dogs.xx

ps....I usually start with when I first came on the site - I had a Neardie then, but didnt know that was what they were called Very Happy and I asked if I could join if I only had half a Beardie....my question was about anal glands Laughing initially....

Anyway, it was our beloved Kentish who answered me and welcomed me onto the site. And from then, as they say, the rest was history xxx

Yes I do it sometimes too. And Judy, like you it was "Kentish" Sue who was the first to welcome me here. I am newer on this site than many of you but have always felt at home, although I still haven't met most of you, except "Double Trouble" Helen, Peter and their beautiful boys. Lovely memories!

I also did this in the wee small hours last night when I couldn't sleep - laughed and cried for ages. Such wonderful silly banter alongside the sad times when we all came together to support those going through awful difficulties. So miss the main proponents of fun and silliness who are no longer with us. Bittersweet posting by Sue that encompassed so much we all felt and meant so much to me - worth a read x

Thank you Barbs for sharing this one.
I remember it so well, Sue was a brilliant writer. Loved reading this again with all the little accents in my head.

But a Facebook group has absolutely nothing to do with a forum like this one or my French forum (I'm so glad that it hasn't been turned into a Facebook group!)... Crying or Very sad

I know that many people have said that Facebook is an excellent platform for disseminating information widely and quickly, whereas the "old" FBC is a smaller, slower and, in my opinion more gentle place ... To me, it's like the difference between "McDonald's" and a good "Local Pub" ... (I don't like McDonald's.. Wink)

.............yerbit........they dont serve beans with Cottage Pie at McDonalds! Oh yes, you are going to say " yahoo " .....butttttttttt.....

Seriously, I agree. I LIKE the way FBC works, I LIKE the format, I LIKE that perhaps it is a bit slower....I dont want to be frenetically doing stuff all the time. I like the ebb and flow... Confused

I agree with what has been written above, and in addition I prefer to be in a smaller group, with a more "intimate" atmosphere and in which you get to know quite a lot of the members. In a Facebook group, it is not unusual to have around 8,000 members, which means that you see posts from different people almost all the time, without any real possibility to know any of them at all - now and then you may vaguely remember seeing a post or a photo published some time earlier by one member or another, but that's about all... I am in a Fair Isle knitting group on Facebook, but only because I like looking at the patterns other members post there, and occasionally getting useful replies to some "technical" or other question. Although when you ask about something there, you are very quickly drowned in an amazing number of answers, many of which are just a repetition of something another member has already posted - nobody reads all the previous comments before posting their own!

I agree about facecloth. Unfortunately it has to have divided our village as those that 'run' the community activities only publicise there and don't bother to update the website or notice boards - end of rant. On a beardie topic I saw the comet recently on my late night walk with Fraser. I'm not sure he was as thrilled as I was as we didn't get to the favorite sniffing place as time ran out so he wasn't able to read his wee mails - bad mum!!!!

Yep, same here re village, information, updates and FB.
myMark only joined FB this March, in case we needed anything during the lockdown. I think we looked at it twice.
It is annoying, though, that everything seems to go via FB now. Lots and lots of people either dont do FB or dont have mobile devices Evil or Very Mad
