Can anyone recommend some toys that are not too expensive and last a fair time please? I used to buy the Tuffy ones but they have become so expensive and seem made from thinner material nowadays.

I find a lot of the toys now only last 5 minutes where the previous ones were okay for days. I do repair them but it is annoying when the stuffing is coming out after only a few minutes.

I have the usual rubber Kong toys and they fair better. A latex toy was soon dispatched even though the reviews were fairly good.

Well Tala will destroy any soft toy within minutes never mind how tough they are supposed to be Laughing What she does love though and never damages are the Kong squeeze balls, I don' know why they never get chewed up but they don't and she plays with them for hours. The mighty Mutts range of toys are very tough so would recomend those but saying that my lot don't show a lot of interest in them.

Thanks for your replies. We have tried a Kong bear, that lasted quite well, although got very soggy. I did buy a Kong squeeze ball but it was the medium one and seemed so small and I was reluctant to use it, perhaps the larger one? I have had a quick look at the Mighty Mutts, so another possibility.

Over the years I have found some Beardies are quite happy to just suck, carry or retrieve the dog toys. Others are like terriers ripping it to bits!

Of course the best toy for a Beardie is....another Beardie......?

Wink think you might be right about the last one Laughing My boy isn't a chewer, all his dog toys are intact and he has 2 favourites, doesn't even look at the rest. Just an ordinary Barry Badger, (soft toy with a grunt/squeak) and a corduroy duck.

Heidiwuff, ah yes I remember Barry Badger well and Sally Stoat, I started buying them some years ago but then they did not seem to be so robust in recent times.

Judy g, unfortunately no Beardie puppy (or adult) newcomer on the horizon......

We have had two girls who didnt destroy their toys then along came Mackenzie who hardly destroyed anything but leggy (a toy with many legs) and then we got Tali and of course even he didnt destroy on his own but they played tuggy with everything so now they only have tuggy toys made of rope or felt and they are quite happy.

Beardielady regarding the Kong squeeze balls, they seem to have changed the sizes for some wierd reason. Tala always had the medium and it was just right, about the size of a decent tennis ball, but last time I had to reorder (they do wear out eventually) I ordered medium and like you got the little tiny one. I thought odd, checked the package, definately medium so I ordered large. That was huge, too big for Tala who likes little things so that got ignored. She didn't like the little one initially either as she is a creature of habit and it was not the right size. They always have to be red too, she will not play with Taraks' purple one it's just no good at all even though it's the right size being an 'old' medium! Rolling Eyes she has given in over the little one now as nothing else was on offer, but I agree it's a worry as it is small, she plays with it mostly on her own so it's not thrown, except when she does it Laughing

Brilliant name, love it...Wytchling

Betsy only wanted blue or yellow toys ( apart from her quarter of a peeled-by-her tennis ball, that was her bestest toy ), so her Nanner and her BlueBallOnARope were favourites. Everything else she shredded. Very Happy

As I sit in my livingroom, Fitz-From-Across-The-Yard is sleeping on his side on my carpet, amongst bits of shredded kitchen towel - his favourite toy, at my house Very Happy
Betsy used to mine for kitchen towels down the side of the sofa, and then shred them, so I am used to bits of white stuff about the house - it is rather comforting, really Very Happy

Awww - know just what you mean about the comforting bit - I have pawmarks that won't come out with stain remover on my once white background (Yeah, I know Evil or Very Mad )duvet cover, and dog tooth marks and cat pinpricks along the base of the sofa and the table legs. Will never part with them Embarassed

Shocked Shocked Laughing Laughing WHITE - I say, W.H.I.T.E duvet cover?? Woman, what were you thinking!! Laughing

I have the inner of a toilet roll - the cardboard tube - with Betsy's toothmarks on it, that I discovered a few years ago under my bed. I put it back. Also there is a slightly grimy patch on the inside of my downstairs loo, where she would shove her head to see where I was....

Ahhhhhhh.
