The Friendly Beardie Club

I've added a couple of photos of my lovely Beardie X Kelly, who left us 7 years ago, at the age of 19yrs.

The shield was won at Inkberrow, for best veteran.  I lost count how many times she won it, actually I think she got it by default in the end, because there were never any dogs older than her!!  

I've already said how Kelly came to us and it was no great surprise to find out that she had obviously never been inside a house before.  She was frightened of the TV, frightened of the lights, frightened of everything really, including us at times, when she misunderstood an action or raised voice.  Till the day she left us, she was terrified of brooms and we could only guess at the treatment she must of received, which had imprinted itself so strongly.

She left us, two weeks after my wonderful Father died and I like to think that their 'last of the summer wine' friendship continues on in a better place.

lovely looking dog i bet she was even better to know! the photo of her lieing down reminds me of "pippin" from the kids tv show!!
when i did read your story on kelly the other day it just reminded me of our bess she is where my love of the beardie comes from,she also was a beardiex she was all black with white chest and what a charactor she was.I was only 14 when we got her as a stray she had made her own home in the caretaker of a schools green house,he advertised but no one came forward to claim her so they  put an add in vets what my mam seen and the rests history and really good memorys!
she done some strange things like catch birds??has anyone else dog done this? but she'd take them back to her bed and lick them..strange doggy id also like to think she was with the ones iv loved and lost giveing them as much pleasure as she did us.our black bessyx
