William Tiggy RIP
« on: July 14, 2022, 03:41:10 pm »
It is with heavy hearts that we must let you know that Mr William Tiggy better known as "Billy The Cat" passed away today. He was 15 years old.

Billy first came to us in 2007. He would have been about 7 weeks old when he and his sister embarked on a little adventure from the Farm up the road and, in what turned out to be typical behaviour, pushed their luck and ended up falling in the stream that flows past our cottage. Luckily for them, they were spotted and rescued by a couple of workmen. Thinking that the two kittens belonged to us, they were given to Gilly who, naturally, gave them a temporary home. After some phone calls, it transpired that the Farmer didn't want them back so the temporary became permanent.
He has been an integral part of the Family. More often than not, he would come on local walks with the Boys playing "chase me" games across the fields.
He used the cottage as his main address, but did have holiday homes dotted around the area. Some he chose because of the fun children who lived there and some because the food cupboards were easy to open.  He was an opportunistic, trouble seeking, fun loving, wee beastie.
He will be very much missed by Gilly and Me, Mac and Tali, and his sister Phyllis Crumble.

RIP Billy the Cat. xxxxx

So sorry to hear about Billy, he had a wonderful life with you and certainly fell on his feet, so to speak. R.I.P. Billy the cat.

Billy was such a lovely boy. Loved all the stories you told of his antics (with Phyliss)
Chase those meeces over Rainbow Bridge Billy, but hopefully not catch any! x

Forever in our hearts, our  boy Rummage, our lovely girl Ina & our gorgeous Tao, & floofy Barney & Princess grumpy Sally, playing together at Rainbow Bridge.

Willian Tiggy

Indeed!!

Oh Billy, Billy, such a gent
but such a lad as well.
I think of them and then I smile
- the tales that I could tell.

Sometimes we'd sit out in  the sun
enjoying free fresh air,
when to the lawn you'd slowly stroll
as if without a care.
But if you saw some resting birds
they'd soon wish they weren't there.
You turned  into a streak of light
intent to head their way
and woe betide a sparrow
who had thought that he might stay
and I would feel a great relief
when they all flew away.

If I came to the kitchen first
one thing I knew was that
you'd try hard to impersonate
a poor, neglected cat.
The soft, soft purr and ankle rubs
I knew without a doubt
were all designed to make me put
some extra kibble out.

Sometimes you'd play with Millie, chasing
round and round a tree,
but if she looked like getting close
then up the tree you'd be!

Another thing you loved to do
was sneak into my car,
so I took care with windows, doors
to leave not one ajar.
But
Once, heading home one holiday
with my route back in sight
I heard a well known purring noise,
it gave me quite a fright.
Then suddenly, with quite a screech
you hurtled through the air
and landed on the seat by me,
all I could downs stare.
My stowaway, quite unperturbed,
had always liked to roam
but Derby was too far away
for him to walk back home.
And so I made my way right back
and took  him to his house.
I thought right then - was I the cat
and he was just a mouse?
Was he concerned?I don't think so,
for what was he to lose,
he'd had his fun, was safe back home
so now he'd have a snooze!

But best of all were evenings cool
and last walk of the day.
I'd stroll along with mind adrift
it always was that way.
then, quietly, there by my side
a silent shadow stealed
and then, as moonlight lit us up
our guardian was revealed.
He didn't leap or play around
just moved in silent bliss;
he seemed to like our company,
and most times we liked his.

Dear Billy you were quite a rogue
when mischief suited you
and many times we had to laugh
at things that you would do.
But in these quiet, evening walks
are memories to enjoy,
for this is when you stole my heart.
Sleep well ---you bold, bad boy.

Going to miss you Billy

Such sad news, Mark, Gilly and family... To all of us cat lovers, cats are such an essential part of our lives, so different from dogs but just as loveable in their own way... Bye bye beautiful William Tiggy, you have been - and still are, of course - much loved by your wonderful family.
